Assistant Principal

Mr. Tyler Thiems is a proud product of MSD Washington Township and a 2005 graduate of North Central High School. With 15 years of experience in education, Tyler is proud to serve the same school community that helped shape him as a student.

Tyler began his career in the classroom, teaching mathematics at Northview Middle School and Thomas Carr Howe Community High School. He then served as a District Math Instructional Coach in Washington Township, supporting mathematics instruction across all three middle schools. Following his time as an instructional coach, Tyler served for two years as an Assistant Principal with Indianapolis Public Schools before returning to Washington Township to join the Willow Lake Elementary community.

Tyler holds an MBA in Educational Leadership from Indianapolis University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hanover College.

Outside of school, Tyler is a proud dad of three daughters who attend Washington Township schools. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community that has been such an important part of his own life.
